Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur close to signing Pape Matar Sarr
According to transfer news from The Athletic (Subscription Required), Tottenham are close to agreeing on a deal for Pape Matar Sarr. However, it must be cleared that other clubs are still in contention as the deal is still open and personal terms are yet to be agreed upon.
A youth product of Generation Foot in Senegal, Sarr moved to Europe with Metz last season. He took hardly any time to settle as he played just the one game for the ‘B’ side. From that point onwards, he would go on to establish himself as a key member of the side. He appeared in 25 senior games last season, scoring four goals.
Metz have kept two potential options open for Sarr’s departure. The first is that they can sanction a sale for a higher price this season itself and be done. Another option is to sell him for a lower price and bring him back for the season. Metz would cover the wages as well. However, the situation could stew for a while before any decision is reached.
Spurs are not the only side after Sarr. There are some other Premier League clubs interested while Atalanta are also said to be keen. While the Lilywhites are definitely in a strong position, the deal is still open and personal terms are yet to be agreed on.

Sarr would definitely be a good addition to the side given his age and talent. It’s no mean feat to become a starter at a club at just 18-years of age. It’s a testament to his ability and Spurs can use some of that energy in midfield.
