Transfer News: Man City still £50m short of Tottenham Hotspur’s valuation for Harry Kane
According to the Mirror, Manchester City are still a handsome £50m short of meeting Tottenham Hotspur’s valuation of superstar striker Harry Kane as the transfer saga drags on.
At this point, it is no secret that City are pushing ardently to sign Kane from Tottenham, who himself has demanded to leave the club. However, Spurs’ chairman Daniel Levy has stood firm, insisting that he is not for sale, although it is believed that a bid of £150m could get him to the negotiating table. (h/t Mirror)
Manchester City had made an opening bid of £100m for Kane earlier this summer, only to see it get rejected by Tottenham, with the Lilywhites having no interest in taking any player as part of the deal either. There have been talks of an offer in the range of £120m, but there has been no formal bid as of yet.
So, as things stand, the Premier League champions remain £50m of Kane’s valuation, and with the transfer deadline day fast approaching they are losing valuable time.
Kane, who is a Tottenham man through and through, is yet to feature for the club this season, having come back late to training after an extended holiday following his involvement in the UEFA Euro 2020.
There have been talks of there being a “gentleman’s agreement” between Kane and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy for him to be granted an exit for £100m should Spurs fail to make it to the Champions League for two seasons in a row. But, Levy is holding firm on his stance and with there being no release clause in his contract, Spurs are in a strong position.

With a little over a week left for the window to slam shut, it remains to be seen whether Kane does end up making the move up north to Manchester or remains at Tottenham beyond the summer.
