Transfer News: Japhet Tanganga could still leave Tottenham Hotspur
According to transfer news from Tuttomercato (h/t Football.london), the agent of Japhet Tanganga has refused to rule out an exit from Tottenham. There are claims from Roberto De Fanto about potential loan offers for his client and could end up departing the club.
The 22-year-old English starlet is a product of our youth academy. It was in 2019 that he was handed his first cap for the side under former manager Mauricio Pochettino. During that season, he was promoted to the first team and it’s safe to say that he has not looked back since then.
Jose Mourinho seemed to prefer playing the versatile defender. Under his tutelage, he featured in a number of defensive roles. However, injuries went on to ravage the last season and he was only able to feature in six league games. Now, all that seems to be behind him as he was handed his first start of the season against Manchester City.
Despite impressing as a right-back and keeping the duo of Raheem Sterling and Jack Grealish quiet, he could well end up leaving Spurs. His agent revealed that there are several loan offers for Tanganga and refused to rule out a potential exit in the last few days of the transfer window.
“We have received many proposals for the dry loan because Tottenham firmly believes in the player and does not want to grant a ransom. The market is constantly evolving, already two years ago it had to be sent on loan and then Mourinho made it one of the pivots of his defence before Covid arrived. There are other days before the market closes, we will see what happens: it comes from a great recognition, that is man of the match on the occasion of the last match.”

It’s definitely puzzling to see these sorts of talks regarding Tanganga. After all, he provided a scintillating display against Man City, and Spurs fans would probably hate to lose him given Toby Alderweireld has already departed. All the more weird is the fact that Spurs are open to a loan deal, just not a permanent sale.
