Transfer News: Tottenham very close to a deal for Pape Sarr
According to transfer news from Daily Mail, Tottenham are close to agreeing on a deal for Pape Sarr. Metz president Bernard Serin revealed that talks are underway with Spurs and they are in an advanced stage. The fee is expected to be around €10m and after his move, he will return on loan for the season.
Two wins out of two and one could forgive the fans for being a bit excited. After all Manchester City and Wolves are formidable opponents. However, there was a question mark between both games when they lost against Pacos de Ferreira, highlighting a significant need to bolster squad depth if Spurs really want to go after trophies.
Three signings are done and all three have received their debuts as well. However, a fourth one is on the cards and it could be a smart one. Pape Sarr of Metz could be the latest addition to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. The Senegalese midfielder from Metz broke out last year with the French club and has not looked back.
Their president has gone on to say that a deal with Spurs is in the works (h/t Daily Mail).
‘We are in advanced talks with Tottenham for Sarr, yes, but it is not done yet. The final fee will be higher than €10m (£8.6m).’
He will be signing a six-year deal with Spurs and then return to Metz on loan for the ongoing season. Sarr was also the subject of interest from the likes of Chelsea, Everton and Aston Villa but Spurs are now closing in on the talented midfielder.

Sarr’s signing represents a move for the future. He is still just 18 and has less than a year of top-flight experience. Sending him back on loan would allow him to continue developing in familiar surroundings. Next season, Spurs have take a call on what to do once he returns to the club.
