Transfer News: Tottenham receive blow in chase for Adama Traore
According to transfer news from The Telegraph (Subscription Required) [h/t Football.london], Tottenham Hotspur have received a blow in their chase for Adama Traore. Apparently, Wolves have rejected an offer from Spurs and want to keep him at the club by extending his deal.
Spurs are keen to bolster their forward line further after the addition of Bryan Gil this season. This is because firstly, Spurs lack a backup striker meaning that Son Heung-Min might have to occasionally chip in there. Another reason is that apart from Kane, Son and Lucas, the other forward options such as Steven Bergwijn leave a bit to be desired.
It is for those reasons Spurs were keen on going after Adama Traore. The Wolves man is a ward of current Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo and a reunion was mooted to take place. Fabio Paratici even prepared a loan offer with £5million as the fee and an option to buy him at the end of that deal.
However, Spurs are not going to get their way. Wolves have rejected the aforementioned offer from Spurs. They are now keen to keep Traore and offer him a new deal instead to ward off any further speculation. New manager Bruno Lage was also keen on having Traore in the side for this season.

While that’s definitely a setback, it’s not something that should deter Spurs if they really want Traore. The 25-year-old can be a very astute addition to the side that could use another forward. Hence, Spurs should try to push a bit more for this deal to strengthen their side for the upcoming season.
