Transfer News: Tottenham offered Harry Winks to Leeds United
According to transfer news from The Athletic (Subscription Required) [h/t Express], Tottenham offered Leeds United the chance to sign Harry Winks. However, Leeds did not take up on the offer. Everton and Aston Villa are also sides that have expressed interest in the 24-year-old.
When Winks burst onto the scene a few years ago, a lot was expected from him. After all, he was one of few bright starlets to emerge under Mauricio Pochettino during that time. He did enjoy a bright start obviously and went onto become a regular part of the side in the last few seasons.
However, game time was a rare commodity over the last season under Jose Mourinho. Add to that, his underwhelming performances in the limited games meant that his future was definitely going to be under scrutiny. It would seem Winks is among the three players Spurs are actively looking to offload.
While there was some level of interest in the midfielder from Everton and Aston Villa earlier, they are yet to make any offers. Spurs took matters into their own hands and went ahead to offer him to Leeds United. That did not work out as Leeds did not want a player who had struggled in recent seasons.

It speaks a lot that clubs are rejecting the chance to sign the 25-year-old Winks. His performances have somewhat deteriorated over the last season or so and that makes him a hard sell. With no clubs willing to take a punt on him, Spurs might have to find a place for him and integrate him back into the side.
