Injury update on Tottenham duo Cristian Romero and Joe Rodon

Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo has issued an injury update on the duo of Cristian Romero and Joe Rodon (h/t Football.london). While there was some encouraging news for Romero, the same could not be said of Rodon.

Spurs will be more than happy with the start they have had this season. Three out of three wins means that they are the only side in the league with a 100% record and top of the table. However, there is now the international break that is going on which means some of the players are in action while some will get the chance to recuperate from injuries.

Cristian Romero has had to bide his time to get into the side and his injury against Pacos de Ferreira did little to help. He has not started in the league even once but was called up to the Argentina squad for the WC Qualifiers. However, signs are promising that he can soon return to the fold as relayed by Nuno after the win against Watford.

“I think he is doing well. It was his second match since he joined us. He has had issues. Even on Thursday he finished the game with some problems, but he is a fantastic player.”

Another defender Joe Rodon has had to fight injuries and fitness issues this season. A real revelation from last season, he is yet to feature for the club this season. He too was called for international duty by Wales but had to withdraw over fitness concerns. Nuno’s update on Rodon, prior to the win over Watford, was somewhat underwhelming.

“Joe missed the game (at Pacos de Ferreira), and that was disappointing for us because he’s one of the players who needs to play, who needs to get real competition time. He is better, but not well enough to join us on Sunday.”

Spurs will be hoping that both the defenders can get up to speed over this international break and return to action for the side. Crystal Palace are our next opponents at the end of the break on 11th September.
