Transfer News: Tottenham get boost in chase for Weston McKennie
According to transfer news from Daily Mail, Tottenham have received a boost in their pursuit of Weston McKennie. Juventus are said to be furious over the player after breaching COVID protocols on international duty with the USMNT. That could lead to Juventus considering a sale for £25million in January itself.
Tottenham had one of their better transfer windows over the summers. They got in young players while clearing out the deadwood. Players like Cristian Romero, Emerson Royal and Bryan Gil have the potential to become mainstays of the side over this season. As a bonus, Spurs also managed to keep a hold of their talisman Harry Kane.
There were definitely a few more names that Spurs had to pass up during the window and one of them was Weston McKennie (via Fabrizio Romano). The American emerged as a bright prospect from Schalke and was one of the few positives from Juventus last season. However, his attitude has been called into question for the second time now.
He was found in breach of COVID protocols on international duty that led him to miss the WC Qualifiers against Canada on Sunday. Not a lot of details were revealed as it was only mentioned that the midfielder had broken team policy. Juventus are not very happy about the situation and could now consider a January sale for £25million. That will definitely come as music to Spurs’ ears.

This was the second instance of the player violating COVID protocols. Earlier last season he held a house party with teammates despite curfew in Turin. While that is something to be taken into account, McKennie can prove to be a shred acquisition if Spurs manage to get him in January.
