Tottenham stars Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero detained on the pitch during Brazil vs Argentina
According to Football.london, Tottenham and Argentina duo Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero were ‘detained on the pitch’ against Brazil. A total of four Argentine players were at the centre of controversy as Brazilian health officials and police came onto the pitch during the WC Qualifiers and detained the players for quarantine issues.
As the international break goes on across the world, Sunday witnessed an interesting bit of drama during the CONMEBOL WC Qualifiers. Argentina and Brazil were scheduled to take on each other in a heavyweight clash but the game hardly played out for 10 minutes as all hell broke loose.
Brazilian health officials and police rushed onto the pitch during the game to detain the quartet of Argentine players. Brazil’s quarantine rules state that anyone travelling from the UK needs to quarantine for 14 days. (h/t Football.london).
Romero and Lo Celso were in violation as they were in England last week. Even the Aston Villa duo of Emiliano Martinez and Emi Buendia were in violation. It is not clear as to what consequences the players will have to face. With the tie called off, a report will be sent to FIFA for further action (h/t Football.london).

These are rather unnecessary incidents that could have easily been prevented if the players were not allowed to play in the first place. Those players are very unlikely to feature in the last game. Add to that, they will have to face another quarantine on their return to the UK.
