Tottenham receive injury blow with Ryan Sessegnon
According to Evening Standard, Tottenham have received an injury setback over Ryan Sessegnon. The versatile wing-back had to withdraw from the England U-21’s with a knock that he is said to have gotten during training. He has now returned to the club for further assessments.
The international break brings with it quite some problems. Spurs are putting out one fire with Cristian Romero, Giovani Lo Celso and Davinson Sanchez due to their quarantine issues. All three are set to be fined over choosing to go for international duty despite the complications. The other problem is actually a staple of any international break and that is injury.
Ryan Sessegnon seems to have fallen victim to that as he has withdrawn from the England U-21 side. The 21-year-old is said to have suffered a ‘knock’ during training. That means he has been forced to return to Spurs and further tests will be needed to determine the nature and severity of a potential injury.
It will be very frustrating for the youngster with this being the second injury of the season. He had to miss the preseason due to a hamstring injury. On recovery, he played both legs against Pacos de Ferreira and now will likely have to sit out for more games. Although, it is hard to say at this point how long he might be out.

It is a defining season for Sessegnon as he came back from Hoffenheim in good form. He can be a good backup to the likes of Son Heung-Min in attack and provide cover to Sergio Reguilon and Ben Davies at left-back. However, this fresh setback is sure to put a spanner in the works. For now, Spurs can only hope that it’s nothing too serious.
