Tottenham starlet Japhet Tanganga responds to the proposition of facing Cristiano Ronaldo
Speaking to Stadium Astro, Tottenham starlet Japhet Tanganga is looking forward to facing off against Cristiano Ronaldo. The young defender admitted that the Manchester United star is a childhood idol of his and relishing the prospect of coming up against him when the sides clash.
It was not a game to remember for the defender this past weekend against Crystal Palace. Tanganga had to tuck into a central position due to the unavailability of players while Emerson Royal was handed a debut at right-back. Spurs negotiated the first half well to go in scoreless at the break. However, it was after that all hell broke loose.
Tanganga got quite agitated when Spurs were not awarded a foul and then he took out Wilfried Zaha in frustration. The pair then had a brief altercation and had to be separated. Bother were shown yellows. However, Tanganga went into another poor challenge a few minutes later and was shown another yellow.
Tanganga keen to face Ronaldo
There was another significant event happening after the game with Ronaldo making his much-anticipated return to United. The Portuguese struck a brace to help his team win. It would seem he has a fan from Spurs which is none other than Tanganga. The defender revealed that Ronaldo was an idol of his and was excited to face the legendary forward.
“To be fair, when I was first watching football, it was Ronaldo. Cristiano Ronaldo was my idol. I have played against him before when we went on a pre-season tour against Juventus. Seeing him in the tunnel was surreal. I will never get over it. If I ever see him again when he plays for United, I am a big fan of him.”

The wait might not be too long as Spurs welcome United at the end of October. The reverse fixture will be played in March next year. It will be an interesting matchup as Tanganga would want to put in a strong showing against his idol. Although he might have to be much better if he wants to stop the iconic striker.
