Former Aston Villa man believes Son Heung-min bigger miss for Tottenham Hotspur than Harry Kane
Speaking to TalkSPORT (h/t Express) after Tottenham Hotspur lost against Crystal Palace, former Aston Villa striker, Gabriel Agbonlahor, suggested that Son Heung-min could be a bigger miss for Spurs than Harry Kane.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men started the season in great form. The Lilywhites won their first three league fixtures by a 1-0 scoreline and were top of the table going into the London derby at Selhurst Park.
A cagey game then spiralled out of Spurs’ control in the 58th minute when Japhet Tanganga was shown a red card. But despite that moment, Spurs looked bland all throughout the game and missed that edge in attack.
Kane, Lucas Moura, and Dele Alli were the attacking three for Santo, with 29-year-old Son still not back from his injury. And according to Agbonlahor, the South Korean’s absence may well be a bigger cause for concern than if they were without their star English striker.
Spurs miss Son
“Spurs, for me, were very poor. Watching the game, I thought they lacked ideas. We spoke in the week about [Steven] Bergwijn being out, Son being out. We talk about: can Spurs play without Harry Kane? But can they play without Son?
The former Villa forward then stated his opinion on Kane’s lacklustre performance. The 28-year-old striker is yet to score a single Premier League goal for the club this season after winning the Golden Boot in the last campaign.
“Harry Kane looked a bit fed up. I’m just looking at him and he looked very fed up. Maybe he wishes that [Manchester City] move had gone through. He looked frustrated.”
