Milan Skriniar can be a top signing for Tottenham Hotspur under Antonio Conte in the future.

Chelsea enter the race for Tottenham target Milan Skriniar

According to Sport Mediaset (h/t Football.london), Chelsea have entered the race for Tottenham target Milan Skriniar. Chelsea want to add a new defender to their ranks and view the Inter Milan star and his partner Alessandro Bastoni as targets. Skriniar, of course, has been a long fancied target for Spurs.

Serie A saw quite the number of moves to the Premier League. Chelsea got Romelu Lukaku, Manchester United got Cristiano Ronaldo while Spurs brought in the Atalanta duo of Cristian Romero and Pierluigi Gollini. However, there were other players as well from Serie A that Spurs had their eye on.

Milan Skriniar is one such name Spurs have been keeping tabs on for a while now. It’s not without reason though. The Slovakian has been a rock at the back for Inter Milan and hardly put a foot wrong in their journey to lift the Serie A last season. He also had a fine campaign in the Euros, meaning that his stocks are at the highest.

Hence, it was not surprising that Spurs still maintained some degree of interest. However, Spurs might face some competition for the defender as Chelsea have entered the race for him. Our rivals are keen to sign Skriniar, Matthijs De Ligt and Bastoni after failing to land Jules Kounde in the summer.

It’s not mentioned whether Spurs really really have any plans to return for the defender after signing Romero. Regardless, it would really sting if our London rivals get a hold of Skriniar ahead of us. Should the chance arise that he can be signed, Spurs must at least try to make a case.
