Graham Roberts suggests how Giovani Lo Celso can return to the Tottenham lineup

Speaking to This Futbol (h/t Football.london), Graham Roberts urged Giovani Lo Celso to get fitter so that he can return to the Tottenham lineup. The former Spurs star felt that the Argentine midfielder has been injured a lot of times and that has made his selection a huge problem.

Giovani Lo Celso has not exactly had the impact that he would have hoped at Spurs. It has been two seasons but his numbers are rather worrisome. 7 goals and 4 assists make for poor reading from the attack-minded central midfielder. However, that can be attributed to his recurring injuries as he has missed a host of games.

Last season, Lo Celso missed 23 games after his hamstring injury which means that he never really settled into the side. Now the player is missing more games due to a quarantine issue. That led to him getting very few minutes in the league under Nuno Espirito Santo. He did end up playing the two Conference League Qualifiers though.

Lo Celso’s game time has been a huge concern as he has drifted in and out of the side on many occasions. Spurs legend Graham Roberts felt that ex-PSG and Real Betis ace needs to get his fitness sorted out if he wants to get back into the side (h/t Football.london).

“I think what he needs to do is get fit. Last year, a lot of times, he was injured, and the problem is that when you’re injured, you’re no good to the club. He’s come from the Spanish league, I think I could still play in that league at the pace they play.”

The Argentine will miss the next game against Rennes in the Conference League. He should be back by the time Spurs face Chelsea. However, he might not make it to the side right away in such an important fixture, which means he will have to wait for his next game.
