Harry Kane is worth approximately $40milion and is the highest-paid player at Tottenham Hotspur. He is also among of the highest-paid players in the entire Premier League.
Kane currently earns nearly £200,000-a-week at Spurs, which equates to £10.4million annually. The player could now also sign a new bumper contract at the North London club.
If the Englishman does end up signing the new contract, it is believed he could earn up to £400,000-per-week i.e., £20.8million annually.
Harry Kane Club Career
Although Kane has remained at Tottenham since 2004, the Englishman first started training at the youth level with Ridgeway Rovers and then made the jump to Spurs’ North London rivals Arsenal. The youngster was a youth product at the Gunners academy when the club won their famous ‘Invincibles trophy’. Later, Kane joined Watford, before making a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Not the most technical player in the world, Kane came up through the youth academy due to his attention to detail and desire to improve his abilities. In 2010, he signed his first professional contract with the club and was then sent on loan to Leyton Orient to hone his skills. He came back in the following season and made his first start for the club on 25th August 2011, when he started the second leg of the club’s UEFA Europa qualification game against Scottish side, Hearts.
However, the Englishman did not look like the finished article and was thus, sent out on loan for the next three years to Millwall, Norwich City, and Leicester City respectively. Things, however, changed in 2014, when Mauricio Pochettino took the reins at the club and used Harry Kane as his main striker.
The Englishman shone for the Argentine manager as he ended the season with 21 Premier League goals to his name. To that end, he was awarded the PFA Young Player of the Year that season. In the following year, Kane went on to win the Premier League Golden Boot as he helped Spurs reach 3rd in the Premier League table with 25 goals to his credit. He made history that season as he became the club’s highest goal-scorer in a single league season.
Kane continued his fine run in the 2016/17 season as well, and won the Premier League Golden Boot, again with 29 goals. In the 2017/18 season, Kane achieved his 100th Premier League goal in 141 games, the second-fastest to reach that feat at the time. However, the striker reached his peak in the 2018/19 season when he took Spurs to the Champions League final, although they did end up losing it to Liverpool.
Kane had an injury-ridden 2019/20 season but returned stronger in 2020/21 as he won the Premier League Golden Boot (23 goals) and the Premier League Playmaker (14 assists) of the Year award under Jose Mourinho’s stewardship. While there was speculation regarding his future in the summer of 2021, he remained at Tottenham and has continued to play for his boyhood club.
Harry Kane International Career
Loved by most English fans, Kane made his debut for the national team in 2015 under Roy Hodgson and scored his first goal for the country on the same day.
Kane was then selected for the 2016 Euros. However, the team had a howler that summer as the Three Lions were defeated by Iceland in the Round of 16 itself. They came back stronger in the 2018 World Cup, when Kane won the Golden Boot with 6 goals and led the Three Lions till the semi-final of the competition, where they lost to Croatia.
The striker also featured for the country in their run to the UEFA Nations League’s semi-final. Kane then captained his country to the final of the Euros in the summer of 2021, but it ended in agony as they lost on penalties to Italy.
Although he is yet to win a trophy with the national team, Kane is the fifth-highest goal-scorer (41) for the nation, and given that he is only 3 goals behind Wayne Rooney in 1st position, the Spurs forward could soon create history.
