Tottenham looking at several strikers to bolster attack next summer: Romano
According to transfer news from Fabrizio Romano (h/t Express), Tottenham are planning to go after several strikers next season as an alternative to Harry Kane. Fabio Paratici wanted to sign one this season but decided to postpone it to next season after careful consideration.
Things might seem a bit quiet on the Harry Kane front after a tumultuous summer. However, it was no calm sea when Spurs were pinballing through the transfer market for a new striker just in case Kane made the move to Manchester City or just to provide backup to the Englishman.
Danny Ings, Dusan Vlahovic and Lautaro Martinez were among some of the strikers the club looked at. In the end, Spurs and Paratici shelved plans. However, those plans could be revisited as early as next season. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano provided a clearer picture on his Here We Go podcast that Paratici was indeed going to return for a striker next season.
“They are already looking at potential strikers for summer 2022. This summer they had the chance to sign a striker as a backup for Harry Kane, but they were not convinced by some [of the] players. So they decided to save their money and invest next summer on the right player. This is Paratici’s style and mentality.”

In all honesty, Spurs need another striker as backup, if not to partner Kane. Apart from the England captain, Dane Scarlett is the only other option who plays in the position. Much more quality is needed in the frontline that has looked shy to score this season. Paratici could decide to go after the names Spurs initially wanted or look to other targets.
