Transfer News: Tottenham dealt fresh complication in Lautaro Martinez chase
According to transfer news from Eurosport, Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a fresh complication in their effort to sign Lautaro Martinez. The Argentine striker might sign a new deal with Inter Milan which would scrap away any case of a release clause, thereby giving more power to Inter to decide his future.
Lautaro Martinez was one of those names that had escaped right from under the noses of Spurs. Touted to be a replacement or backup to Harry Kane, the Inter Milan striker was very close to moving away before Romelu Lukaku moved to Chelsea. That made Inter change their stance on a possible sale for Martinez.
It was not without reason that Spurs were after the Argentine. Martinez capped off one of his best seasons with two trophies. With Inter he lifted the Serie A and with Argentina, it was the Copa America. Not only Spurs, but Arsenal also made themselves contenders for his signature over the summer.
However, both the London clubs could now face a new problem if they want to sign the 24-year-old. His new contract with Inter Milan will get rid of any potential release clauses. That means Inter will be in a better position to ask for a higher fee for their prized asset and Spurs and Arsenal will not be able to just pay the release clause and walk away.

From what we have seen so far, Spurs could use a player like Martinez. They are struggling to find the back of the net and not even our trusted scorer Kane is unable to change that right now. However, getting Martinez will be easier said than done and lest we forget, possibly very expensive.
