Tottenham face Liverpool, Juventus battle for 24-year-old Serie A star

Transfer News: Tottenham face Liverpool, Juventus battle for Franck Kessie

According to transfer news from La Repubblica (h/t Shields Gazette), Tottenham Hotspur will have to stave off competition from Liverpool as well as Juventus in pursuit of AC Milan star Franck Kessie.

Since signing for AC Milan, initially on loan in 2017, before making the transfer permanent in 2019, Kessie has grown into one of the best central midfielders on display in the Serie A. A powerhouse in the middle of the park, the 24-year-old Ivory Coast international played a key role in the Rossoneri finishing second in the league table last term.

While he continues to be a key player for Stefano Pioli & co., Kessie’s future has become uncertain as he is in the final year of his contract with Milan and has rejected an offer of a new deal by the Serie A giants, putting Tottenham on alert. (h/t football.london)

Apart from Tottenham, Liverpool are also said to be monitoring Kessie while it now seems like Juventus, too, have entered the race for the signing of the Ivory Coast international, who will be available on a free transfer next summer provided he does not sign an extension with AC Milan before the end of the season. While Tottenham have a number of options in midfield, Nuno Espirito Santo could certainly use someone of Kessie’s quality as he would offer goals and drive from midfield, something that the current squad lacks.

Calciomercato (h/t ESPN) claims that Tottenham have already made a contract offer worth €8 million per year to lure Kessie to north London from Lombardy.
