Stan Collymore makes huge claim about Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy

As per a column in the Daily Mirror (h/t Express), former Liverpool forward Stan Collymore believes that Daniel Levy is a negative factor for Tottenham Hotspur while negotiating deals for the biggest players.

The North London club have experienced a lot of changes over the last two years. They have shifted stadiums and also appointed Jose Mourinho before sacking him earlier this year in May.

Nuno Espirito Santo was appointed this summer while Fabio Paratici was given the director of football role. The Italian did a commendable job by bringing in the likes of Emerson RoyalCristian RomeroBryan GilPierluigi Gollini, and Pape Matar Sarr

Although these signings are encouraging ones, none of them was the outstanding star in their former teams, perhaps barring Romero. Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has given his opinion on the topic and feels that Daniel Levy’s frugal spending nature could be the reason that the best players do not come to the London club.

He wrote in the Daily Mirror (h/t Express):

“Tottenham are in a better position [than Arsenal] to attract players as things stand. But the problem is the perception of whether their chairman Daniel Levy would spend in the way you would want him to.

“I’d be thinking, ‘Yes, I fancy that stadium and that training ground, but is he going to bring in three, four or five like me, the same way Chelsea did a couple of years ago when they were at the Champions League/Europa League crossroads where Spurs now find themselves?’

Both Arsenal and Tottenham have had a lot to ponder over their progress in the last couple of years, especially after neither finished in the Top 6 of the Premier League last season. While Fabio Paratici will focus on bringing players in over the next few years, it remains to be seen what kind of a role does Daniel Levy play in those negotiations.
