Daniel Levy ready to let Harry Winks leave Tottenham in January

According to transfer news from Caught Offside (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is ready to let go of Harry Winks in January. The midfielder wants to leave the club over reduced game time and the club could fulfil his wish. Manchester United have been linked with Winks recently.

It’s hard to believe that Winks has been around for the last five years and still has not become a regular in the side. Once seen as one of the brightest to emerge from the academy, Winks has largely failed to live up to his potential. He is mostly a fringe player these days and gets the occasional game here and there.

It’s not that Winks has not been afforded chances. In fact, he has been offered plenty of them but he has failed to take them. His performances often leave a lot to be desired as he fails to provide anything of note in attack or defence. This season, he has featured sporadically and there have been no notable contributions.

Over the summer, Winks wanted to leave the club after losing his place in the side. Manchester United were linked with a move as well. Now, the 25-year-old English midfielder could be granted his wish to leave in January. Chairman Daniel Levy is ready to cut his losses and let the academy graduate go.

In all honest Winks has not been of great influence at the club over the last season or so. His contributions have not been of the desired levels and he isn’t a regular on the side. Letting him go might not exactly hurt Spurs as they have a number of players to take his place. Whether on not he is sold to Manchester United, remains to be seen.
