Tottenham Hotspur could profit from Inter Milan’s financial stresses to land their potential targets
According to Gazetta dello Sport (h/t Express), Inter Milan are trying to solve their financial problems and Tottenham Hotspur could land one of their targets under the current circumstances.
The pandemic and other stressors have taken a severe toll on football clubs across the globe. Some of the big clubs were forced to sell their top players to balance their books and the Nerazzurri too were forced to unload a couple of stars. Romelu Lukaku made the switch to Chelsea for £97.5m whereas Archaf Hakimi was purchased by Paris Saint-Germain for £60million.
The Serie A side were under tremendous pressure to see Lautaro Martinez in the August transfer window but the club were not willing to let go of both of their strikers in the same window. The Lilywhites had a bid of £60m accepted but the move was ultimately waved off by the Inter Milan board. The 24-year-old striker has also been linked to Arsenal. According to the report, Alessandro Bastoni, Nicolo Barella, Milan Skriniar, and Martinez are the stars who could be sacrificed for the club.
Tottenham Hotspur could use a striker with Martinez’s quality in their forward line. The Argentine international has scored 54 goals and provided 20 assists in 140 matches for the Italian giants across all competitions. He played an instrumental part in Inter Milan winning the Serie A title last season after a duration of 11 years.
The North London club has heavily relied on Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min for their gals in the past few seasons. While the Korean has committed his long-term future to the club, the English striker may not spend so much time at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium amidst growing interest from Manchester City.
Barella could be another great option who is linked to the Premier League with several teams showing interest. The Italian midfielder has scored 8 goals and provided 26 assists in 96 games for Inter Milan across all competitions. It is highly unlikely that Spurs would make a move for Milan Skriniar after recently acquiring Cristian Romero.
Despite all of this, it is believed that the club is looking to secure the long-term future of these players to San Siro. That being said any move for these talented players may not be totally out of bounds considering their financial situation.

Most of these Inter Milan prospects could prove to be a great addition at the Noth London club but may take time to adapt should any of them make the switch to Spurs. Nuno Espirito Santo could certainly use an infusion of more attacking prowess into his current squad but only time can tall if any significant move is to take place.
