Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has been ruled out for Wales’ upcoming World Cup qualifiers
According to a statement from the official Wales Twitter account (h/t Independent), Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies will be unavailable for Wales’ upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The 28-year-old has been a seasoned campaigner and is set to miss the upcoming fixtures due to illness. The Wales international team will be without their main man Gareth Bale due to a significant hamstring injury. The Dragons will also have to play without A.F.C. Bournemouth forward David Brooks.
Davies has been an instrumental part of the Lilywhites squad. He has been a dependable asset for a long time and his absence is sure to be felt for club and country. The Welsh left-back has played 220 Premier League matches for Spurs during which he has scored 6 goals and provided 16 assists for the club.
The left wing-back has mostly featured in the UEFA Europa Conference League this season for Spurs. Nuno Espirito Santo commented on the 28-year-old defender’s illness issues with a bit more clarity:
“He has a problem on an inflammation on his appendix. He has been taken care of, he has had some scans, but he was not able to play, he was in pain. We wish that he recovers soon and he can join us.”

The management and coach would be looking to have the wing-back in contention for the rest of the season so that they can rotate this squad and compete across several competitions at a much more consistent level.
Spurs have been under tremendous pressure after their latest results even though they managed to ease some of it with their victory against Aston Villa in their last PL match. An experienced defender like Davies could really help steer the ship in the right direction and add some composure to the backline.
