Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur ace Sergio Reguilon is on the radar of Real Madrid

According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central (h/t The Express), Real Madrid are considering negotiating a return for Tottenham Hotspur star Sergio Reguilon.

The Spanish giants let the Spaniard leave the club last year despite winning the Europa League with Sevilla in the 2019/20 season. Tottenham swooped in and agreed on a permanent transfer for the full-back for a fee in the region of £27million.

Since then, the 24-year-old has gone on to become a crucial part of Spurs’ defensive line and also nailed down a starting spot under Mourinho. The left-back made 36 appearances last season and provided 6 assists in the process. However, his defensive qualities were also admirable as he helped the club keep the sixth-best defence in the league last season.

Not a lot has changed this season as Nuno Espirito Santo has also preferred the Spanish international in the left-back role as he has played every single minute of Spurs’ Premier League campaign so far.

However, after only one year at the club, Madrid are already opening up to the possibility of making a swoop for him, according to Defensa Central (h/t The Express).

The La Liga club apparently put a buy-back clause worth £34million in the Spaniard’s contract, which will remain valid until the end of the season. However, Florentino Perez is trying to eye a cheaper deal ahead of the expiry date of the aforementioned clause.

However, Spurs might not be willing to let the 24-year-old leave the club for a fee lesser than what they paid for him last summer.

Thus, there are several obstacles to this deal, and it would take a monumental effort for the Spanish club to lure their former defender back to Santiago Bernabeu.
