Tottenham Hotspur handed injury boost as Ben Davies has returned to training with Spurs
Tottenham Hotspur have received a major boost as Welsh left-back Ben Davies has resumed training with the North London club after an injury scare while representing Wales on international duty. (h/t Football.london)
The 28-year-old wing-back was considered a major doubt as he was forced to pull out of Wales’s latest international fixture due to illness. As per a tweet posted by the official Wales football team Twitter account:
” Ben Davies and David Brooks have had to withdraw from the squad due to illness. Brysiwch wella hogia! (get well soon),”
There must have been some worry regarding the defender’s availability through the season but his return to training could be wonderful news for those at the club. The Premier League will be resuming this weekend after the international break and managers would be hoping to keep as many players fit as possible.
Nuno Espirito Santo has just joined Spurs as manager this season and is still trying to find the right balance of players and system in his squad. That being said all top clubs will slowly start entering into a hectic period with the matches coming thick and fast and the coaches would be looking to suitably rotate its players.
The experience of Davies can be a great factor and can help add some composure to the back. Injuries to the likes of Steven Bergwijn, Matt Doherty, and Ryan Sessegnon without a fixed return date could put further strain on the Portuguese manager’s current resources.
