Wayne Rooney and Rivaldo shared their thoughts on the current Harry Kane situation and backed him to regain some of his old form for Tottenham Hotspur that has made him one of the most feared strikers in all of Europe (h/t Football.london).

There has been some criticism of the English striker’s recent form for Tottenham Hotspur. He had a pretty average match for the England national squad against Hungary in their last international fixture and that has raised some more doubts concerning the 28-year-old striker’s form especially considering he is yet to score in the Premier League this season.

Kane has scored 227 goals and provided 49 assists in 346 matches across all competitions for the Lilywhites so far. He has been an instrumental part of the Spurs attacking lineup and consistently provided that lethal finish in front of goal. This kind of form has led to several clubs showing interest in the English captain.

Manchester City were heavily linked to the English striker in the summer transfer window but a move was blocked and Kane was forced to stay at the North London club.

Speaking via Betfair (h/t Football.ondon), Rivaldo spoke about Harry Kane’s situation and firmly disagreed that the transfer interest has anything to do with his current poor form for Spurs:

“Kane tried to leave the club in the summer, and many are pointing to that as the main reason for his bad performances, but I have to disagree. Kane is an excellent professional and he is representing a big club so has no reason to be unmotivated.”

Harry has been a great servant for club and country in his professional career as a footballer. The Spurs striker has scored 36 goals in 53 competitive fixtures for the Three Lions and is only a whisker away from beating the English record that was set by Wayne Rooney of 37 goals for the English national squad.

The former Manchester United player spoke during Derby County’s pre-match press conference ahead of the Rams’ clash with Swansea at the weekend.

He has kept his faith in the Tottenham striker and has highlighted how the striker is simply going through a tough patch but can get over this:

“Harry is a good enough player and a big enough person to come through this period. All strikers go through moments when they don’t score and Tottenham are not in the best vein of form themselves, so that is down to the team.”

Despite all the changes that took place Kane has always been a dependable asset for Spurs in the big games. Nuno Espirito Santo and his squad are currently going through some indifferent form at the moment. That being said the Portuguese manager would be hoping that his star striker can regain some of his glorious form of previous seasons.
