Graeme Souness slams Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane after loss to West Ham United
In conversation with Sky Sports (h/t Football.London), former Scotland and Liverpool footballer Graeme Souness spoke about Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane. He had some scathing comments regarding the English international after Spurs lost to West Ham United.
The 28-year-old striker has had to suffer a tumultuous season this time around. The English captain has managed only 1 goal in 8 Premier League matches this campaign. This was made worse as the Hammers defeated the Lilywhites with a header from Michail Antonio after the Tottenham captain for failing to clear the ball properly.
There is uncertainty looming around the long-term future of Kane at the club with links to Manchester City cropping up every now and then. The prolific striker scored 33 goals and managed to get 17 assists across all competitions last season but seems to have become just a shadow of his former self this campaign.
Souness commented on Harry Kane’s performances against the Hammers. He also highlighted the lack of focus and concentration by the English captain in the loss to the West London club:
“He’s more obsessed with the striker not getting there rather than going and attacking the ball. Maybe I’m digging him out unnecessarily but is that where Harry Kane is right now? Not fully concentrated and looks like he didn’t really want to be in that position. Just go and attack the ball son, that’s what you would do if it was at the other end, instead he’s just trying to keep the striker off the ball instead of going for it.”
Spurs have heavily relied on the likes of Son Heung-Min and Kane for their attacking threat in the last few seasons. There seems to be a lack of depth in the squad, especially in the attacking department. This fact was highlighted in their loss to SBV Vitesse in their UEFA Europa Conference League match.

The Lilywhites have lost to another London club this season and the pressure would be mounting on Nuno Espirito Santo to provide consistent results. The Tottenham faithful would also be hoping that their star striker can regain his form sooner rather than later so that the North London club can get going once again.
