Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo has backed Dele Alli following his uninspired performances

Speaking in a pre-match press conference (h/t The Independent), Nuno Espirito Santo has promised to get Dele Alli back to his best after his dismal outing against Vitesse Arnhem. Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 1-0 loss against Vitesse in the Europa Conference League.

The 25-year-old Englishman was one of Tottenham’s brightest stars a few years back after he burst onto the scene under Mauricio Pochettino. However, he had a dip in form during the final days of Pochettino at the club.

It was expected that Jose Mourinho would be able to get the best out of him after he got in charge. And it was going smoothly in Mourinho’s early days but the midfielder had a falling out with Jose midway through.

“All the players in our squad, we have to realise that during their careers there are ups and downs. It is my job to try and make the best out of them, Dele included.”

Nuno has backed Dele after his dismal display against the Dutch club. The Portuguese manager has also vowed to help the 25-year-old get back to his best following the slump after a solid start in this season.

“I don’t look individually when I judge them, I am very fair. Dele started very well in the competition and now he is not in his best moment so it is up to us to get him back in the best moment he can.”

The Spurs boss would be hoping that the midfielder can find his feet as quickly as possible. The English international would be hoping the same as he would not want to go through a similar trajectory under Nuno as he did with his previous two managers.
