Tottenham Hotspur star Tanguy Ndombele claims conversation with Daniel Levy changed things for him this season

Speaking to the Telegraph (Subscription Required) [h/t The Express]Tanguy Ndombele believes his conversation with Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy was the turnaround moment for him this season.

The French midfielder signed for the North London club back in 2019 under the stewardship of Mauricio Pochettino for £54million. However, the Argentinian manager was soon sacked, and Ndombele suffered in quality under new boss Jose Mourinho.

Although it seemed as though something could work out between the Portuguese boss and the former Lyon man, Mourinho too got the sack earlier this year. The 24-year-old later failed to feature in seven friendlies under Nuno Espirito Santo in pre-season, and an exit could have been on the cards.

However, he has started featuring for the club since September and has scored 2 goals in seven games. The turnaround moment, however, was seen when Daniel Levy was pictured in the Amazon Prime documentary ‘All or Nothing’, as the chairman told Ndombele an incident from his school where he was going to be expelled. Levy told the midfielder (h/t The Express):

“The next day I said to myself: ‘I am not going to be beaten.”

The Frenchman recalled this conversation recently during an interview. He told The Telegraph (h/t The Express):

“If a chairman is seeing something that he is not happy with, normally, he wants to speak to the player about that,”

“It was a good meeting, I listened to what he had to say, and he listened to me too. Perhaps if I’m still at Tottenham today it’s thanks to that meeting. What went through the summer is something that is for me…I feel really ready with my football, and that is all that I’m concentrating on, and I’m now looking ahead.”
