Tottenham Hotspur among a list of London based clubs set to make the records books in the Carabao Cup

According to Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur joins a list of London clubs that will make Carabao Cup history. It is the first time that five clubs from London have entered the quarter-final stages of the domestic competition.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Brentford, West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are the London-based clubs that have made it to the last eight of the competition. The Hammers had the most shocking result as they defeated reigning champions Manchester City via penalty shootout at home. Having also downed Manchester United in the previous round, David Moyes side certainly has form going in the competition.

Spurs managed to get past a resolute Burnley defence when Lucas Moura put the ball past Nick Pope from an exquisite Emerson Royal cross. This goal was enough to secure victory for the Lilywhites on the day and might have eased some of the pressure on Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Portuguese manager would have been under the scanner as his men succumbed to consecutive losses against SBV Vitesse and West Ham. With their tepid run in the Premier League and UEFA Conference League so far, the Carabao Cup may be their best bet at winning some silverware this season.

This would go a long way to boost morale in the dressing room after going 13 years without winning a major trophy. The Carabao Cup has been lifted by a London club 12 times in total. The Blues have won this title 5 times whereas the Lilywhites come in the second position with 4 EFL titles to their name.

Arsenal have won the Carabao Cup twice whereas QPR has lifted it just once. The Tottenham faithful will have tough completion for the EFL Cup this year. They have lost all of their London derbies in the Premier League this season which isn’t a very encouraging stat under the circumstances.
