Tottenham Hotspur eyeing Paulo Fonseca or Sergio Conceicao to replace Nuno Espirito Santo
According to The Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing Portuguese managerial duo, Paulo Fonseca and Sergio Conceicao as potential replacements for Nuno Espirito Santo at the Lane.
The Spurs boss is under increasing pressure after his fifth loss in ten Premier League games this season. Tottenham board looks set to have an emergency meeting regarding his fate and it remains to be seen if he will continue.
Just four months into the season and Spurs could be on the verge of yet another defining moment or crisis as one chooses to see it. It is a pretty remarkable timeline, even for a club embedded in chaos as Tottenham
Nuno replaced fellow Portuguese Jose Mourinho in the Spurs hot seat earlier this summer. It would appear that the club are sticking to keeping an Iberian in charge of the club’s first team.
Both Fonseca and Conceicao are also Portuguese and it remains to be seen what they can offer that their compatriots couldn’t. The former had a good spell at AS Roma but parted ways earlier this summer after a disappointing 2020/21 campaign. Currently unattached, he could prove to be the easier of the two to attain.
Conceicao however is in charge of Portuguese giants Porto. He has done a decent job in the Primeira Liga, leading the club to two league titles in 2017/18 and 2019/20. He has however been found wanting tactically in games against the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.
While Spurs have a better squad on paper, these tactical deficiencies could prove to be an issue when facing off against the league’s best. The trio of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are already miles ahead of us in this moment of time and unless we make the right appointment, we will continue to play catch up.

As things stand, there are a number of managers on Tottenham’s radar at the moment. Whether Nuno will continue and if he doesn’t, who replaces him remains to be seen.
