Charlie Eccleshare has revealed that Ryan Mason is excited about managing Tottenham.

Ryan Mason could be the interim manager of Tottenham Hotspur should Antonio Conte deal collapse

According to Football Insider (h/t Daily Star), Ryan Mason is in line to become the interim coach of Tottenham Hotspur if the Antonio Conte deal collapses at the last moment. He was the interim boss of Spurs following the sack of Jose Mourinho back in April.

Mason was a former midfielder at Tottenham but was forced to retire early due to a skull injury he suffered during a match. He managed the club for a total of seven matches which included the loss to Manchester City in the final of the Carabao Cup.

Conte is said to be in the final stages of the contract negotiations with Daniel Levy and is becoming increasingly likely to be the next manager. However, the former Spurs player is an option in case of a worst-case scenario with the Italian.

During his managerial tenure at the English club, the 30-year-old has won four matches while losing three in the process. He is currently the head of the academy coaching at the North London based club.

The Englishman was able to get the club to a European Conference League spot ahead of the likes of the bitter rivals Arsenal. His first match could be against Vitesse in the ECL should he become the interim manager.

Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked today following the loss against Manchester United in the Premier League. The former Seria A manager is heavily linked to becoming the next boss with the Lilywhites after the sack.

Levy would be hoping to get the deal through with the former Chelsea coach as he is a highly-rated coach. While Mason provides a solid backup option, the chairman would be hoping that it would not be necessary as he is yet to garner experience at the top level of the game.
