Former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte in the final stages of contract talks for a potential Tottenham Hotspur job

According to Gianluca Di Marzio (h/t Fabrizio Romano), Tottenham Hotspur and Antonio Conte are in the final stages of the negotiations following the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo as the Spurs coach.

Nuno was sacked by Daniel Levy after the 3-0 loss against Manchester United in the Premier League. Conte was continuously linked with a move to Tottenham ahead of the sacking of the Portuguese coach.

Romano claims that the former Inter Milan coach will soon be travelling to London for the final details to be agreed upon. He also adds that the Italian is looking forward to working with Fabio Paratici, the Managing Director of Football.

“Antonio Conte is expected in London soon to complete talks on final details with Tottenham. Deal at final stages for new Spurs manager after Nuno out. Antonio is more than tempted to accept Tottenham job. He already worked with Paratici at Juventus years ago.”

In a previous tweet, the Italian journalist mentions that the salary package and the length of the contract have already been discussed. The former Chelsea boss is said to be convinced by the offer that the Spurs chairman has put forward.

According to Express Sport, the Red Devils are not expected to intervene between the two parties as they have decided to stick with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for now. The 52-year-old was continuously linked with a move to Old Trafford as Ole was under similar pressure to Santo.

The former Seria A coach is stubborn but can guarantee success if properly backed. It is under his tenure that Inter broke Juve’s dominance in the Italian league. While his European success can be questionable, the English club needs some sort of success to push for greater heights.

Conte can offer that and could be a great appointment for Spurs if the move is finalised.
