Jamie Redknapp cautions Antonio Conte about the current situation at Tottenham Hotspur
Speaking to Sky Sports News (h/t Daily Star), Jamie Redknapp has cautioned Antonio Conte about the current situation at Tottenham Hotspur amidst rumours closely linking him with the club’s hot seat.
Conte is in the pole position to become the next manager at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He is also said to be in London to finalise the deal with Daniel Levy ahead of the supposed announcement.
The Italian was previously linked to Spurs back in the summer after Jose Mourinho was sacked. However, a deal was not able to be agreed upon between the two parties and links never reached fruition.
Despite the show of intent, Redknapp believes the club’s antics hardly cover them in glory. While the club has excellent infrastructure, it is in the board room that they are struggling to make an impact.
“Right now, Tottenham, on field, are the laughing stock of football. Off the field, they are the envy of everyone because of the stadium and training ground but on the field, they are making a hell of a lot of mistakes in that boardroom.”
Redknapp has also hit out against the current board by questioning the timing between the two talks with the former Seria A manager. He also gives an opinion that it may have been down to the differences in transfer budgets.
“I don’t understand why after four months you can get him, but you couldn’t get him four months ago. There must have been a problem with the transfer budget, he didn’t maybe agree with what Daniel Levy wanted to do with the club.”

Conte will be facing the biggest challenge of his career at Tottenham should he become the next manager. He will be facing the likes of Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel while managing a side that lacks the winning mentality. But, if backed, the Italian can have a genuine chance at success.
