Son Heung-Min left frustrated despite Tottenham Hotspur beating Vitesse Arnhem by 3-2
Speaking to Spurs TV via Tottenham Hotspur official, Son Heung-Min has admitted that he was upset in the aftermath of the 3-2 win against Vitesse Arnhem in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
The 29-year-old scored the opener in the game as Spurs cruised to a 3-0 lead in the early phases of the game. However, Vitesse pulled two back, and it was a hard-fought victory after Cristian Romero was sent-off in the second half.
Son has said that he was left dispirited because of how the match ended given how well they played in the first 30 minutes. However, he added that this experience would be a great learning curve for the squad looking to prevent such an occurrence in the future.
“I’m really frustrated because we should have enjoyed it even more, the way we played in the first 30 minutes – attacking, enjoying playing football, everybody moving but no-one expected it to go that way. It shouldn’t happen and it’s a good lesson for us to be calm, to be humble.”
The South Korean forward was appreciative of the fact that the team stood their ground even when they suffered. He lauded the team for the ability to suffer and win a game but has issued a warning to not repeat it in future.
“But sometimes that happens in football and as a team, we had to suffer, we did and I’m proud we suffered together, including the players off the bench. Suffering is good but it shouldn’t have happened.”
