Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane praises Antonio Conte appointment and takes responsibility for his poor form
Speaking to ESPN, Harry Kane has given his views on the appointment of Antonio Conte as the new Tottenham Hotspur manager while self-reflecting on his poor run of form. He was recently involved in his team’s 3-2 win over Vitesse Arnhem in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
The England captain has struggled so far this season, failing to recapture the form he showed over the last few years. He was also involved in a transfer drama during the summer as he pushed for a move to Manchester City but without success.
Kane opened up on his feelings on the arrival of Antonio Conte and what he brings to the team. He also praised the new boss for his stature and success at his previous clubs and admits to having the utmost respect for it.
“It [Conte’s appointment] shows great ambition to be honest. His resume speaks for itself, everyone knows how highly thought of he is and what he has done as a manager in the game. You have to respect that.”
The 28-year-old also admitted that he is in a poor run of form at that moment and has taken responsibility for it. He also added that the entire squad needs to take some blame for their inconsistency and raise their level.
“It’s not been the start I wanted, the team wanted or the club wanted so we all know that. We all have to take responsibility for that as players. We have to make sure every minute of our lives we are trying to improve and win for this team and that is the only way we are going to move forward.”
