AS Roma coach Jose Mourinho is interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks

According to Corriere dello Sport (h/t ESPN), AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho is interested in securing the signature of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks amidst a potential squad overhaul at the Lane.

The 25-year-old came through the youth ranks under the tenure of Mauricio Pochettino and has become a regular feature at the club since then. However, he struggled to get a foothold at the club as he never made a mark under any of his managers.

The England international has featured sporadically under the tenure of his last coach, Nuno Espirito Santo. He had faced similar game time problems under the short reign of interim manager Ryan Mason.

Mourinho is said to be keen on getting Winks to his Italian side as they challenge for a Champions League spot in Seria A. Roma are supposedly looking at the winter transfer window to try their luck in landing the player.

While the Englishman was not a mainstay under Mourinho, he featured a fair number of times. A move to Italy could be on the cards with the arrival of Antonio Conte as there is a possibility of a squad overhaul that caters better to the Italian’s needs.

However, with the recent comments from Conte following the announcement, the Englishman may feel that he could earn his spot provided he can perform at the desired level.
