Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte insists he is “happy” with the performance of the players in the game against Everton
According to BBC Sport, Antonio Conte has said that he is delighted with the performance of Tottenham Hotspur in the draw against Everton in the Premier League. His team were held to a 0-0 draw at Goodison Park in what was his first game as a Spurs manager.
Despite having no shots on target in the match, Tottenham were close to scoring some goals towards the end of both halves. Sergio Reguilon had his shot seen just wide of the post in the first half whereas, Giovani Lo Celso was denied by the post after a stunning piece of play.
Following the match, Conte revealed his happiness with the effort of his team and their commitment throughout the game. He added that he is more confident about this side and believes they are going on the right track.
“Today I saw the heart of my players, the passion, the will to fight, the will to sacrifice, to understand this was a very difficult moment for us. And to see this makes me more confident for the future.”
The Italian thinks that his players have shown the mentality which puts them in a great position to start afresh. He adds how the physical and tactical aspects can be improved over time, but the mental factor has to come from the players themselves.
“Sometimes you can teach players the tactical aspect and physical aspect, but the heart and passion you either have or not – my players showed me they are in a good position, this is a good point to start.”
