Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon talks about potential new formation and how it is to work under Antonio Conte
Speaking to Standard Sport (h/t Evening Standard), Tottenham Hotspur ace Sergio Reguilon has revealed how it is like working under Antonio Conte and the new formation they are currently working on.
The 24-year-old was recently involved in Tottenham’s 0-0 draw with Everton at Goodison Park. He had an opportunity to score the opener from Harry Kane’s cross but could not direct it towards the goal.
The Spaniard has said that he is enjoying the new life under Conte and has mentioned how they are working on a five-man defensive setup. He also added how they are going through the footage of Chelsea and Inter Milan to get them accustomed to the new system.
While the new formation is something Reguilon is unfamiliar with, he is enjoying life under the Italian.
“The gaffer is special. I’ve never played five at the back before. I have to learn quickly. I’m enjoying the position a lot because I can attack more but I have to run double!”
The full-back also insisted that he can already feel that he has improved in a short period under the guidance of the new coach. He added that his friend, Achraf Hakimi, gave him some tips on how the Italian can be and the effort you need to put in.
“I’ve watched a lot of videos of Chelsea and Inter Milan, and I have a friend at Inter, Achraf Hakimi who I spoke to about the gaffer. He said I will have to work really, really hard but I will improve a lot. In one week, I can already see that.”

Reguilon was left out of the Spanish squad for the November Qualifiers meaning he can work more under the 52-year-old and get suited to the new formation. Spurs will be facing Leeds United in their first match following the international break and need to adapt to the new tactics.
It is still early days under the Italian at Tottenham. However, there is little denying that positive vibes are back at the Lane.
