Frustration for Antonio Conte as Tottenham Hotspur star Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg gets injured with Denmark

According to Denmark national team on Twitter (h/t Football.London), Denmark international, Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg has suffered an injury during training which would be a big blow to Antonio Conte and Tottenham Hotspur.

The 26-year-old is already looking to be an asset for Conte in midfield based on his selection for the first two games. And he has not disappointed and dropped solid performances in both matches under the Italian.

However, his national team have tweeted in the morning that the Danish midfielder has been dealt an injury during training and is a doubt for their first match. Denmark will face the Faroe Islands on Friday as part of the 2022 Qatar World Cup Qualifiers.

Frustration for Antonio Conte as Tottenham Hotspur star Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg gets injured with Denmark.
Hojbjerg has been an ever-present in the Tottenham lineup.

“Due to an injury, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will unfortunately miss the match against the Faroe Islands on Friday. We hope to get him to the match against Scotland next week.”

Based on the tweet, it does not seem like a serious injury, and the national team hopes to get him to match fit for the next game. However, a proper diagnosis can reveal the exact issue and, more information will be available as time goes by.

If the injury is worse than it initially looked then, it means that the Danish international could miss the game against Leeds United which, would be the first game for Spurs following the international break.

The English club will also miss the services of Oliver Skipp against Leeds due to suspension. If Hojbjerg is added to the injury list, then Conte could be in trouble as the midfield duo has been the preferred pairing so far.
