QTottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane pleads Gareth Southgate to feature for England against San Marino on Monday
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has pleaded with Gareth Southgate to feature for England in their game against San Marino on Monday.
The 28-year-old has suffered in front of goal for Spurs this season. He has put in the hard yards and tried his best, but something is not clicking for him this campaign. However, that has not been the case on the international stage.
Kane has managed 12 goals in 2021 for the Three Lions, and one more would make him the highest-goal scorer for the nation in a calendar year. Moreover, he has some records to break on the international front.
The centre-forward took his tally of competitive goals to 39 after his hat-trick against Albania, overtaking Wayne Rooney (37). Including friendlies, the striker has 44 goals to his name and is behind Gary Lineker (48), Bobby Charlton (49), and Rooney (53).
He has a chance of closing in on the latter duo when England face San Marino on Monday. In fact, the Spurs ace has pleaded with Gareth Southgate to start him on the night.
Given that they are the lowest-ranked team in the world, Kane would be hoping to bag a couple more goals. Southgate has also revealed that his frontman is ‘keen’ to play. England only need to avoid defeat to ensure automatic qualification to the 2022 World Cup.

Antonio Conte would be hoping his star man can build some confidence before returning from national duty. The Italian took over the reins from Nuno Espirito Santo at the start of this month, and the results need to improve soon.
The 52-year-old has a track record of bringing about defensive stability, and he will need Kane to supply the goals. Spurs shall host Leeds United on Sunday after the international break is over.
