Hugo Lloris could leave Tottenham Hotspur on a free at the end of this season
According to ESPN, Tottenham Hotspur skipper Hugo Lloris could leave the club as a free agent when his contract expires in 2022. He has been a vital part of every Spurs manager’s starting XI since he moved to the club nine years ago from Ligue 1 side Lyon.
The 34-year-old is yet to renew his contract with the Lilywhites and, his future could depend on the arrival of Antonio Conte. He is said to be interested in a move to MLS, and Conte’s decision could influence that path he takes next season.
Having been at the club since 2012, he has earned 130 clean sheets from 385 appearances across all competitions. However, a change of place could happen in the summer, depending on how the situation unfolds.
Lloris has commanded the backline throughout the years and is arguably one of the best keepers to grace the Premier League in the past decade. He may not have the glitz and glamour attached to his name like other superstars in his position, but the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner’s consistency over the years has made him a top name in European football.
The biggest regret for him and the fans would be the lack of trophy in his playing career under the Tottenham shirt. He is a World Cup winner for France and became the first Spurs player to win the prestigious title, but he would have liked to lead his club to silverware.

Should the Italian decide to have a change in front of goal, the Spurs captain could still be a backup at this club if he wants to. While he is not as consistent as his previous years, he still plays at the desired level.
It remains to be seen what the future will be for the club legend under the new manager, but if the veteran stopper decides to stay at N17 and the club wants to keep him here, not many fans would be opposed to having a senior figure like him in the dressing room.
