Tottenham Hotspur U-23 prospect Dilan Markanday wins the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for October
According to the official website of Tottenham Hotspur, Dilan Markanday has been awarded the Premier League 2 Player of the Month for October. He is one of the most promising players in the youth division and was consistent in his performances over the last few months.
Markanday has been tremendous this season, with ten goals and four assists to his name across all competitions. He had made his first-team debut recently, in the UEFA Europa Conference League game against Vitesse Arnhem away from home.
The 20-year-old was previously nominated for the award in April and August of 2021, but this time he came out on top. These nominations show the consistency and quality in his displays, and he could be in line to become the next breakthrough star.
“I’m really happy and proud to win this award – I want to use it as added fuel and motivation to keep developing and working every day to improve.”
The British-Asian attacking midfielder was proud of his achievement and said that it would drive him to improve in the future. He added that he is happy that his performances helped the team’s success over the past month.
“Obviously it’s been a good month for me personally, but we’ve had a few good wins from a team perspective so I’ve been happy to be able to contribute to that and help the team on the pitch.”

The youngster had scored four goals last month from the same number of games which included crucial goals against Manchester City and Manchester United. He also scored against Crystal Palace in his team’s 4-3 defeat in the youth division.
It is good to see that our youngsters are prospering well in the academy and could soon make a move to the senior squad if this form continues. It also ensures that we have a solid base to build around in the future success of the club.
