Ian Wright and Roy Keane have their say on Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane following San Marino heroics

In their post-match assessment (h/t Football.London), former football stars Ian Wright and Roy Keane have given their honest assessment on Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane after his scintillating performance for England against San Marino.

The 28-year-old striker has been struggling for the Lilwyhites this season. That being said the English captain has put on some splendid displays in the recent World Cup Qualifier for the Three Lions.

Kane decimated San Marino as he scored four goals against them which takes his international goal tally to 48. He is within touching distance of becoming the top scorer for the England National team. Wayne Rooney currently holds the first position on that list with 53 international goals.

The Lilywhites striker would be hoping to bring some of that form to Spurs for whom he has only managed to score one goal in the Premier League this season. The new manager Antonio Conte would certainly be hoping that he can reproduce some of that scintillating form with the North London club

Roy Keane spoke about Kane and believes that the arrival of the Italian manager may have lifted the striker’s spirit:

“New manager, change at Tottenham, maybe that has lifted his spirits – another new challenge for him. The hardest part of football is putting the ball in the back of the net. He is world-class.”

Ian Wright also highlighted that the 28-year-old can be really deadly when he gets into dangerous spaces:

“I’m always disappointed when he’s too deep. He is someone I’m never worried about if he’s in the right areas getting chances and scoring. Never worried.”

Incidentally, Ian Wright was the last England player to score four goals for his nation in a single match in 1993. The former Arsenal forward also achieved this feat against San Marino.

Kane has been struggling to perform consistently for the North Londoners this season. That being said there is a new air of excitement with Antonio Conte and his brand of exciting football.

The 28-year-old was linked with a move to Manchester City recently and the captain has himself highlighted that the whole transfer saga affected him. It seems as though he is ready to move past all of that but there still seems to be a looming sense of uncertainty around his future.
