Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur believe they can sign Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie for £29m
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato (h/t Football.London), Tottenham Hotspur are in pursuit of Juventus ace Weston McKennie. It is also believed that they can land the USA international for a sum of £29m.
The 23-year-old has played 58 matches for the Bianconeri across all competitions till now. During that time he has scored eight goals and provided three assist for the Turin-based outfit. The former FC Schalke 04 player has popped up on Tottenham’s radar as Antonio Conte is said to be interested in the young attacker.
The young attacker has been an integral part of this Juventus midfield but has gotten off to a slow start this season. While the youngster could play an important part in their squad for the future, the Serie A club also know that they have suffered huge losses in the 2020-21 campaign.
McKennie could help bolster the midfield and add a dash of vigour in the middle of the pitch. His addition to the club could help future proof the midfield if, Spurs are able to harness his potential to the fullest. He would also help boost competition in that midfield role with Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele vying for similar roles in the North London club.
The Italian manager has become synonymous with an attacking brand of football from the flanks and we have seen the American international play down the right-hand side of the Old Lady’s midfield. It seems like there just might be a place for McKennie in the Spurs XI if he does end up coming to London.
