Slaven Bilic reveals the similarity between Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte and Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa
In conversation with Croatian outlet Index.hr (h/t Leeds Live), Former West Brom manager Slaven Bilic speaks about Tottenham Hotspur coach Antonio Conte and Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa. He highlights the similarity between both the coaches.
Being the manager of a top-flight team isn’t always an easy task. You could be revered one day and deemed the devil the very next match. The demand to get the best out of your players in an intense and physical league is always a big challenge.
Antonio Conte has already stamped his authority in the early days with rigorous training sessions at N-17. There was more attacking intent in their last two fixtures against SBV Vitesse and Everton under Conte as compared to the more defensive approach under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Bilic spoke about the top coaches in the Premier League today and highlighted that the best of them were a bit crazy but in a good and genuine way:
“The difference between these great coaches and the rest of us is not in the talent. They are crazy. It is questionable that it is talent at all, but they are crazy. When you see Conte on television, he feels physical pain because of defeat. Such people work harder than others. Klopp, Conte, Pep, Bielsa. They’re crazy. You can’t say, ‘Well, I’m going to see Bielsa run the training, so I’ll be like him.”
Bielsa has also been dubbed as ‘El Loco’ for his intense focus on tactics and intense training sessions. The Whites have struggled to hit the same form as last season in the Premier League. They astonished everyone and went toe to toe with the big guns in the first tier of English professional football.
