Tottenham Hotspur chief Daniel Levy keen top improve recruitment following recent htis and misses
According to a club statement (h/t Football.london), Daniel Levy sent a transfer message stating that Tottenham Hotspur must improve on recruitment after spending over £400million since 2019.
The North London outfit have gone through a lot of changes since sacking Mauricio Pochettino in November 2019. Toby Alderweireld, Erik Lamela, and Moussa Sissoko have left the club in the past couple of years as Tottenham cleared the dead weight from the club.
The appointments of Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo did not work, but the club have now hired a proven manager in Antonio Conte, whose tactics are still relevant today. In fact, they also nailed the appointment of a director of football by hiring Fabio Paratici.
The Italian brought in exciting talent this summer from Serie A, La Liga and Ligue 1. None of the players were above the age of 26, which is a smart transfer strategy adopted by the club.
Daniel Levy released the club’s financial results recently and released a statement, including the importance of focusing on improved recruitment in the coming years.
“Since opening the stadium in April 2019, we have spent almost £400m on players. Player spending is no guarantee of success, and our focus must be on improved recruitment, coaching, fitness and a competitive mindset.
“Fabio continued the rebuild in the summer, resulting in the average age of our new summer signings being 22 years compared to the average age of 31 years for the outgoing players. We shall also look to continue the well-established path for youngsters from our academy to our first team.”
Liverpool have shown in recent years that smart recruitment can trump splashing the cash on the shiniest toy in the window. Hopefully Paratici will continue to work his magic and ensure the right players make it to the club.

He could take Spurs back to their glory days and have them competing for major trophies. A sound recruitment process shall certainly help in this process, while it shall also be the more feasible method. Thus, exciting times lie ahead as Conte, Levy, and Paratici rebuild the club.
