Interview: Former Tottenham Hotspur player Michael Dawson praises Lucas Moura

In conversation with N17 Live (h/t Football.London), former Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson complimented Lucas Moura recently for his performances.

The Brazilian forward played an important part in the recent victory for the Lilywhites over Leeds United. He played a crucial role to set up both the goals as Spurs came back from a goal down to win the match by a scoreline of 2-1.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg tucked the ball in the net past Illan Meslier in a calm and composed manner as the Leeds keeper was spotted off his line. The Danish international chose not to celebrate and urged his teammates to get on with the game. This finish got them level with the Peacocks after a first-half striker by Dan James.

The second goal came from Sergio Reguilon when the Spanish full-back was the first to react to a heavily deflected free-kick by Eric Dier. The opportunity itself was made possible when Moura took the ball and dribbled past a couple of players only to be fouled just outside the box.

Dawson spoke about the 29-year-old Brazilian international and highlighted his ability to zoom past players:

“Lucas I love as well. Lucas goes under the radar. When he picks up the ball and teams get after him and the pace and the way he runs through. There were times when he gets fouled, he just gives the defenders an opportunity to get up the field.”

The former Paris Saint-Germain forward has come through for Spurs on important occasions in the past. One of his most memorable performances would have to be a second-half hat-trick against Ajax Amsterdam in the semi-finals of the 2019 UEFA Champions League.
