Tanguy Ndombele told by Paul Robinson that his days are numbered under Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur
In an interview with Football Insider (h/t Football.London), former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paul Robinson has insisted that Tanguy Ndombele is not a player that matches Antonio Conte‘s philosophy and his days might be numbered at the north London club.
Newly appointed Conte has already called out the midfielder to work harder if he wants to establish himself in Spurs’ starting XI. Ever since he joined Spurs from Olympique Lyonnaise, he has shown glimpses of brilliance. But his inconsistency in form and failure to win the trust of managers for a starting place continues to be his downfall.
Despite playing under three different managers, Ndombele continues to be on the fringes of Tottenham’s starting line-up. And while he is undoubtedly a talented player on the ball, he leaves much to be desired off it at times.
Talking about the same, Paul Robinson said (h/t Football.London):
“Ndombele is a top-class player but his work rate and attitude isn’t good enough. I cannot see Ndombele fitting in under Antonio Conte. Conte does not suffer fools no matter who you are or what you have achieved.”
“This will probably be the end for Ndombele. Conte will have been given a lot of assurances and free rein. He holds all of the cards. Time is running out quickly for Ndombele.”
Midfielders attitude problem!
It’s not like this is the first time he is being called out for it as well. Jose Mourinho did not hide his feelings about Ndombele during his time as Spurs boss, while Santo also took a number of weeks before finally giving Ndombele some time out in the sun.
If his attitude is indeed a problem, the 24-year-old must understand that he should fix up soon before it’s too late. A top club like Spurs should wait around for no one and Ndombele should realise that if he doesn’t impress Conte, the Italian could find someone else to play in his midfield.

Giovani Lo Celso, Oliver Skipp, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Harry Winks are all central midfielders at Conte’s disposal that he could trust to start regularly in his team. If the Frenchman wants to find a place in Conte’s midfield, there is no doubt that he has to work harded than he is doing right now.
