Tottenham Hotspur might let Bryan Gil leave for Barcelona
According to Catalan outlet El Nacional (h/t The Hard Tackle), Spanish giants have been handed positive news in their race to sign Tottenham Hotspur attacker Bryan Gil.
The Premier League club is willing to offload the youngster as he is considered surplus in Antonio Conte’s plans going forward. It is a surprising assessment given the Spaniard’s potential.
The 20-year-old joined Spurs in the summer from Sevilla but has not been able to make a mark in the Premier League. He has struggled throughout the season so far and Spurs are now looking to cut their losses.
Gil has only started in eight matches for the North Londoners so far this season and has not made much of an impact when afforded these chances.
He joined the north Londoners as a part of a swap deal with Erik Lamela. While Gil has shown some glimpse of his play in the European Conference League, he has had little luck in other competitions.
But despite his struggle in the Premier League, Barcelona are still planning to raid Spurs for the youngster. The Spanish giants are shorthanded upfront and are looking at options to reinforce the position.
The report also adds that Barca will try to sign the striker on loan in January rather than a permanent transfer as of now.
Spurs coach Conte is already looking to sign fresh stars in January keeping in mind the team’s struggle this season. He has already talked about the task he faces at home to turn around Tottenham’s fortunes.
