Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has given an update on Sergio Reguilón injury

According to Football.London, Antonio Conte is hopeful that the injury suffered by Tottenham Hotspur full-back Sergio Reguilón against Norwich City isn’t severe.

Sergio Reguilón was filmed rubbing his thigh long ahead of the kick-off against Norwich. It indicates that the Spaniard struggled with his fitness even before making his way into the field. The 24-year-old was given the green light to start the game despite the signs.

However, the decision from the coaching hierarchy hasn’t gone down well for the North London team. After being involved in a few clashes, the Spain international pulled up on the pitch and had to be substituted in the 23rd minute.

In the post-match press conference, Spurs manager Antonio Conte has suggested that after a brief conversation with his Spanish left-back, he got to know that the injury wouldn’t do lasting damage to the player.

“On one end, I was a bit disappointed for Serge with the injury, but I spoke with him, and we don’t think it’s a bad injury.”

The severity and extent of the injury would only be known after scans and medical check-ups. However, the manager’s recent verdict has ascertained that there is no reason to lose our sleep over the matter.

After the arrival of the Italian manager, Reguilón has featured in every Premier League game. The former Inter-Milan manager is trusting the full-back in his 3-4-3 formation. Conte is playing him in a more advanced position which has worked out well for the 24-year-old player.

If he is absent for a while, Reguilon’s loss can turn into Ryan Sessegnon’s gain. The English wide man has shown promise during his time at N17 and despite his rash red card in the loss against NS Mura, he has looked like an able attacking left wing-back that can deputize for Reguilon when necessary.
